Tenenbaum Law Group Welcomes Addition of Associate Greg Whitten

The Tenenbaum Law Group (TLG) is pleased to announce the addition of attorney Associate Greg Whitten to the firm.

Greg Whitten is an attorney (DC Bar admission pending) with significant experience advising nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations and public entities on a wide range of legal issues related to strategy, compliance, and operations. Drawing on more than four years of experience as Senior Legal Counsel at an international technology nonprofit organization, he provides practical legal guidance to mission-driven organizations navigating complex regulatory and operational environments.

Greg counsels nonprofit clients on matters including contract development, data privacy and security, corporate governance and Bylaws, federal tax exemption and unrelated business income tax (UBIT), copyrights and trademarks, and nonprofit fundraising regulation. He has extensive experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements across the full contract lifecycle, including SaaS agreements, partnership agreements, grants and subgrants, service-provider agreements, vendor contracts, agreements with international, state, and local affiliates, and nondisclosure agreements. Greg also advises organizations on national and international data privacy frameworks, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and supports clients in developing compliance practices aligned with evolving domestic and international regulatory requirements.

In addition, Greg regularly advises on organizational policies and operational initiatives, supporting leadership and program teams to bring new ideas to fruition and manage day-to-day operational needs as they design and launch new programs and services. His work includes counseling on artificial intelligence use, data processing and personal data governance, and online sales and use tax compliance, as well as drafting online terms of use, privacy policies, and program-specific terms and communications – with a focus on ensuring compliance and procedures aligned to shifting and novel regulatory landscapes. He also assists organizations with marketing-related and intellectual property issues and supports procurement and vendor selection processes, including requests for proposals (RFPs).

Prior to his time as in-house counsel, Greg spent nearly a decade working in education and public policy. He began his career as a special education teacher in New York City through Teach For America before joining the New York City Department of Education, where he worked on the District Planning and Legal Compliance teams. He later led legal affairs and network operations for a charter school network in Brooklyn, New York. In these roles, Greg oversaw governance and reporting processes, developed compliance frameworks, trained teams on regulatory requirements, and drafted organizational policies and governing Bylaws, partnering with a wide variety of stakeholders to ensure organizational compliance and successful implementation of initiatives at scale.

Greg is passionate about supporting mission-driven organizations and brings a demonstrated track record of his collaborative, practical, solution-oriented approach to helping clients navigate legal challenges and achieve their strategic goals.
